Environment and Ethics

Welcome to the environment and ethics page of our website. Here you’ll find all the information you need to know about what your union does to reduce our impact on the world, and how you can get involved.

In a world becoming more and more global, Environmental and Ethics issues can no longer be ignored. The Students’ Union believes that actions must be taken at local, national and worldwide levels to make the planet more sustainable.

QMUSU recently adopted a Sustainable policy (The Students Union Policy ) committing to monitor the environmental aspects of its activities (Environmental Aspects and Impacts of The Students’ Union) and to campaign for rising awareness of ecological issues amongst its members.

Working alongside the University, who ranks as one of the most sustainable campus in the UK for its facilities, The Students’ Union aims to:

-       Reduce waste and energy consumption;

-       Increase the purchase of Fairtrade goods;

-       Support environmental and ethics initiatives.

Doors? 6pmPrice? £3…12 acts…What a bargain!!
Compere – Ed PatrickEd Patrick started performing regularly in August 2009. In this short time he has become a regular at The Stand and is booked at clubs all over the UK.  With his career going from strength to strength, Ed has already appeared at the Comedy Store in London and in Manchester, The Frog and Bucket, and Lee Hurst’s FymFyg.

‘Saw an excellent act last night called Ed Patrick. Very very good gags. look out for him in the future.’ Comedian Hal Cruttenden.

‘Ed Patrick displayed some masterful, often playfully provocative writing that took the audience in directions they didn’t expect….genius lines. An assured set from a young comic with an inventive mind.’  Steve Bennett, Chortle.

Headliner – Keir McAllister

Keir’s first gig saw him enter a comedy competition in Dundee, and ended up playing to 1000 punters at the final in London.

He has now gigged all over Scotland and can often be seen at The Stand, HaHa Comedy and The Last Laugh Comedy Clubs. He is also a regular at the Edinburgh Fringe and Glasgow Comedy Festivals, appearing in shows such as Rehab’s For Quitters (with comedy partner Paul Pirie), Four Men And A Little Lady and the Stand’s own consistent sell-out Best Of Scottish Comedy.

He has also been a regular guest on Radio Scotland’s Karen Dunbar’s Summer Supplement and was recently asked to write a stand-up script for Kate Lawler for a reality TV show. Keir is also a playwright whose first play, Falling for Grace, saw critical success and a full Fringe run while his second, Death of a Critic, is touring.

‘…a gifted comedian destined for much bigger things.’ Edinburgh Evening News.
