As a student at Queen Margaret University you are automatically a member of the Students’ Union whether you are part-time, full-time, distance learning, undergraduate or post graduate.
We are here to support your through your time at University in every aspect of your student experience. University is an amazing experience for anyone and we will be there through the highs and lows. Some of you will use our services all the time, getting involved in volunteering, playing sports, representing others and using the bar, but we are also there for people who will only need us in a crisis. If you are every unsure where to turn during your time at QMU; turn to us, your Students’ Union is there for you and if we don’t have the answers, we will try to find out!
The number one priority of the Students’ Union is representation. We aim to make sure that every student at QMU is represented on all levels at the University from Class Representatives to the boardroom of University Court. The student voice is our single most important remit and we take it very seriously.
As well as representation we can help you with any welfare issues, personal and academic through The Welfare Point. Whether you need help with an academic appeal, a housing problem or just need someone to talk to. University can be a stressful time but we are here to help.
We also run a wide range of sports clubs and societies with everything from the Women’s Gaelic Football Team to our prolific Theatre Company; Cobweb for you to get involved with.
As well as sports and societies we are this year launching QMedia which offers students the opportunity to get involved in various projects including QM Radio and the Echo Newspaper.
Finally there is our award winning Maggie’s Bar & Cafe which won the Most Improved Students’ Union Bar in the UK at the 2010 NUSSL Best Bar None Awards and Gold Accreditation in 2011.
