RAG CONSTITUTION
1. NAME
The name of Queen Margaret University Students’ Union RAG shall be herein referred to as QM:RAG.
2. OBJECTIVES
The objectives of QM:RAG shall be to;
i raise money for charity
ii organise and promote charity events
iii engage students and promote student development
3. MEMBERSHIP
Ten VRP places are available for QM:RAG. However, membership of QM:RAG shall be open to all QMU students pursuing a course of higher education at Queen Margaret University Edinburgh.
4. COMMITTEE
4.1 The RAG coordinator will be the WRC (Welfare and Representation Coordinator, currently Cecile Guilloteau) who will work alongside all students to promote the initiative. A RAG president will be appointed through a committee secret ballot.
4.2 The committee will consist of;
i The WRC (RAG Coordinator) or appointed nominee
ii Students from QMU
iii The elected RAG President
iv RAG Volunteers hereafter referred to as RAGSTARS
4.3 The committee can, if they deem necessary, elect further positions to the committee, as agreed by the committee, such as Treasurer, Secretary, Publicist etc who will assume the role of President in the President’s absence.
These positions will be voted for by the committee in a secret ballot.
4.4 The WCC shall chair the first election of the year. The President or appointed nominee shall chair all elections thereafter.
5. REPRESENTATION
5.1 QM:RAG shall submit an information paper to Parliament briefly detailing events since the last Parliament meeting and promoting forthcoming events.
5.2 The RAG President, or appointed nominee, shall attend all Parliament meetings.
6. MEETINGS
6.1 The RAG President, or nominee in place of RAG President, shall chair meetings.
6.2 Meetings should take place 4 times per academic year and minutes posted on website www.qmusu.org.uk .
6.3 If an emergency meeting is to be called the RAG President, or WCC in place of RAG President, shall give 3 working days notice via email to committee.
6.4 The WCC shall be responsible for booking rooms for meetings.
6.5 All meetings are open to anyone who wishes to attend, inviting ideas and questions from anyone interested in QM:RAG.
7. BENEFICIARIES
7.1 It is advised although not mandatory that all beneficiaries shall be chosen within the first 4 weeks of the Academic year by the RAG committee.
7.2 Money collected for a certain academic year must be distributed to that years selected beneficiaries by the following September.
7.3 It shall be the responsibility of the WCC to pass on beneficiary information to the incoming RAG President.
7.4 All beneficiaries are subject to approval by the RAG committee.
7.5 Beneficiaries will be reviewed annually by WCC and continuing RAG committee members.
8. FINANCES
8.1 All money raised by or on behalf of QM:RAG shall be donated to the beneficiaries within 7 days of total being announced. The total shall be announced within 3 working days of the close of the event.
8.2 All funds raised by QM:RAG are held in account of QMU Students’ Union and are administered by the finance department of QMUSU, unless collected under a permit belonging to a charity, whereby money shall go direct to the said charity
